Restrictions on possession of weapons
You may not possess a weapon in the state of Oregon if you:
- Are less than 18 years of age
- Have been convicted of a felony or found guilty, except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence ORS 166.270
- Have any outstanding felony warrants for arrest
- Are free on any form of pretrial release for a felony
- Are on any supervised released, misdemeanor or felony, i.e., probation or parole of any kind (also cannot posses any thing which may be considered a weapon)
- Have renounced United States citizenship or are an alien in the United States unlawfully
- Were dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces
- Were committed to the Mental Health and Development Disability Services Division under ORS 426.130
- After January 1, 1990, were found to be mentally ill and subject to an order under ORS 426.130 that the person be prohibited from purchasing or possessing a firearm as a result of that mental illness
- Have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving violence or found guilty, except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a misdemeanor involving violence within the past four years
"Misdemeanors involving violence" means a misdemeanor described in ORS 163.160, 163.190, 163.195, 163.208, or 166.155(1)(b)
- Are a respondent in a Restraining or Stalking Order
